Checking the length of heavyweight contestant's throw at Portree Highland Games
Portree Highland Games 2010 - The Meall or ‘The Lump’ in Portree on the Isle of Skye is the name given to the hill above the harbour and old quay which juts out into Loch Portree. The old stone tower on ‘The Lump’ is a well known local viewpoint and there are fantastic views from either side. Once the setting for public hangings on the island, the area is a wonderful natural amphitheatre. It’s hardly surprising, then, that ‘The Lump’ is now used as a venue for the annual Isle of Skye Highland Games.
