The Clutha Mural
A striking mural paying homage to the history of the area and celebrating a variety of personalities who visited the location has been created on the external walls of Clutha Bar in Bridgegate, Glasgow. Celebrities depicted include Billy Connolly, Jimmy Reid, Spike Milligan, Gerry Rafferty, Alex harvey, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Reid, John Martyn, Glenda Jackson and Rupert Everett.
The mural has been created by street artists Bob McNamara aka RogueOne and Danny McDermott aka Ejek. The work was completed in the summer of 2015 following the re-opening of the bar after a helicopter crashed into it on 29 November 2013 in which ten people lost their lives.

When Arthur Jefferson took over the management of the Metropole Theatre in Stockwell Street (the street is nearby the Clutha Bar but the theatre is now demolished) in 1906 he employed his son Arthur Stanley Jefferson (then aged 15 or 16) to collect tickets at the box office. In 1917, Arthur Stanley changed his name to Stan Laurel, going on to become one half of the famous double act, Laurel and Hardy
